I can help with those small projects in your garden too
The little things
Bins, we’ve all got them
You can’t put them in a shed because you need daily access to them. You can’t box them in, how would you open the lid? But you can fence or trellis around them. I’ve solved a few ‘hide the utility’ issues including heating oil and gas tanks which are necessary, but just not attractive. Do you have an eyesore you want to hide?
Harness the moon
The overgrown corner in the picture below is now our moon garden planted as a white garden with silver foliage. The chrome Armillary sculpture is lit up at night with solar powered LEDs, but it’s at its best when the moon is full. Are you looking for a calming space to retreat to after a busy or noisy day?
Shady corner, overhanging tree
When we moved in we inherited a beautiful Cotoneaster which had spread across the garden. Its canopy was casting shade not only on the bed underneath, but the surrounding walls and part of the patio. When the arborist took care of the extra growth, the shade lovers were put in and they thrive. Is shade your issue?
Impulse buy or surprise gift
We’ve all had one. That metal sculpture that looked so good at Chelsea, the water feature that sounded so tinkly in the garden centre or the beautiful wedding gift of patio furniture, that has never found its place in your space. Trust me, it just needs a fresh eye.

Inheriting an overgrown space
When you move into a new house it’s either been left untended by the previous owner since the sale was agreed or in a new build, there is a patch of lawn which eerily perches on unknown contents beneath. The importance of both is to find the problem areas, for example where there is bad drainage, shade or compacted soil and work around it or plant something that makes it better

A tended overgrown space
A star jasmine (Trachelospermum jasminoides), tangles its scented blooms around a climbing Rosa Creme de la Creme as Shasta daisies, silver ragwort and the Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Madame Emile Mouillère’ gets ready to join the party. Quite a change from the top left corner of the unkempt garden in the first picture
